One of the best things about fall are the wonderful smells! The aroma of fresh apple pie, cinnamon, pumpkin spice among many others can just put us in a good mood. There are plenty of candles, diffusers, sprays and other items that can fill your home with these fragrant scents any time you want. But have you ever tried doing a fall simmer pot? Simmer pots are a non-toxic way to give your home that wonderful fragrance.

The basics of a simmer pot are simple: put some water in a pan on the stove and set it to simmer. Add in a few ingredients such as apple or orange slices, cinnamon sticks, lemon, cloves, or nutmeg. This can just simmer on the back of your stove for hours and fill your home with wonderful scents! Just make sure you check on it and add water as needed. If you prefer not to use a pan on the stove, a small crockpot or slow cooker will work just as well.

Here are a few suggestions of combinations to help make your home smell great. Try one of these or create your own.
