The origins of ice cream are a little hard to know for sure but as far back as 550 BC ice cream like foods were described in Persia. Some sources say China was where a variation of ice cream originated. Wherever it came from, it is here and enjoyed by millions of people every day. In the US, it is estimated that the average person eats 48 pints of ice cream per year. 

In honor of National Ice Cream Day, the New Directions team members were asked where their favorite ice cream  places are. Here is the list of our favorite places (in no particular order.)

Sweet Rides and Sweet Pies

New Directions is happy to be sponsoring a trophy for the Sweet Rides & Sweet Pies event in Westby on Saturday, July 27 from 10am-3pm. Due to the construction along the main road through town, the event will be held at the ballpark just west of downtown. Sweet Rides and Sweet Pies is a family friendly event and fun for all ages. Food will be available for purchase along with homemade pie with ice cream.
