You may be wondering when the best time to build your new home may be. If you want your home to be built quickly, then you will want to break ground in spring or summer. Weather conditions are typically more favorable, usually fewer delays in the building process and there’s a better time frame for taking care of landscaping. 

Starting to build in the fall or winter may take a little longer for your home to be ready, but it is usually more economical. Fewer people are building during the fall and winter creating a slower time so prices may be better to help encourage people to build.

On average it can take around seven months to build a home. A prefab home will take the least amount of time. A custom-built house will take longer to build–up to a year or more. Weather, soil type, and topography can also factor into the build time. Keep in mind that it also takes time to obtain the required permits, design the house, etc.
