There’s no shortage of things to do during the month of December around here. Here is a short list of events happening from Ferryville to LaCrosse and in between! Check out your town’s local Chamber of Commerce and check Facebook to search for more fun Christmas and holiday happenings near you! 

Rotary lights, La Crosse, now through New Year’s Eve. 

Head to Riverside Park in La Crosse to enjoy 3,000,000 lights!  Walk or drive through. There are warming centers throughout the park. Weather permitting, the ice skating rink is open. Carriage rides are available on select nights. The park opens at 5pm daily and gates close at 10pm. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day it closes at 9pm. New Year’s Eve it is open until 1am. .

The Historic Temple Theater, Viroqua

The Theater is hosting several events for the Christmas season including showing several favorite movies! “Elf”, “It’s A Wonderful Life” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” are some of the movies they have been or are going to show.

Holiday Horns, Saturday, December 23, 11am-Noon, Valley View Mall

Please join us for a complimentary hour of Christmas carols covered by a French horn trio. đź“Ż Local maestro Dr. Thomas Hunt and his colleagues will put on a free performance next to our Christmas tree in Center Court.

Kid’s Free Holiday Craft Workshop, Saturday, December 23, 11am-1pm, Valley View Mall

Bring the kids to make a merry masterpiece! We will have free Christmas craft kits, coloring books and other fun items. There will also be free snacks and holiday hits.

 

Create and Decorate Tiny Gingerbread Houses and Candy Cane Ornaments, Saturday, December 23, 10am, Nature Place in La Crosse

Sponsored by Down Syndrome Association of WI, La Crosse Chapter.

DSAW provides a safe space for our loved ones with Down Syndrome and other related disabilities to attend events and activities that have been customized.
This event, Tiny Gingerbread Homes and Candy Cane Ornaments, will offer each crafter the opportunity to build a gingerbread tiny home with graham crackers and then decorate it. Plus, crafters will make a candy cane ornament to hang on their tree!
Cost is FREE for loved ones with Down Syndrome and other related disabilities. RSVP is required to reserve your supplies.

If you will have extra family in town for the holidays, bring ’em skating! We’ll have music playing for all ages & everyone can have a good time laughing at games like limbo, dodgeball, and Ghostbusters. đꙂ

Everyone is charged $6 to enter (3-103 years old).
Skates, Rollerblades, and the playground are included for FREE!

Life-Sized Candy Land Game, December 27-29, 10am-6pm, Viroqua Library

125 W Jefferson St., Viroqua

Play Life-Sized Candy Land at McIntosh Memorial Library on Wednesday, December 27th, 28th, and 29th anytime between 10:00am – 6:00pm. Estimated time to play one game is 20-minutes.
The classic board game will come to life on these dates in the children’s library. The life-size board game will be complete from the colorful pathway on the floor to all the sweet stops along the way: Peppermint Forest, Nana’s Nut House on Peanut Acres, Licorice Swamp, Lollipop Woods, Ice Cream Mountains, and … King Candy’s Castle!
The decorations will be on display during the month of December, but peak “candy-ness” happens over Winter Break on the dates listed above.
Ages: Best for ages 4+
Group size: One player (youth) minimum but up to 4 youth players at one time.
Estimated game-playing time: 20-minutes
Last game begins at 5:30pm.

New Year’s Eve Get-together, December 31, 6pm-10pm, Viroqua Assembly of God Church, 201 W Broadway, Viroqua

Sunday Night New Years Eve Get Together
We will be starting @ 6:00pm with Games and snacks, then between 8:30 and 9:00 pm we will have a time of worship and all be home by 10pm or so.
But come expecting the Holy Spirit to move.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show, Grandad Bluff Park, La Crosse, 6pm

Won’t be able to ring in the new year at midnight? Join us a few hours early for a show that rivals our big midnight show!
It can be seen from anywhere in La Crosse that has a clear view of the flag atop Grandad Bluff.
This show is put on through donations from the community. Consider donating to help us continue the NYE tradition. http://skyrockers.org/donate/
